Keeping an Eye Out67 viewsGreat Horned Owl in the "Owl Shed" at Whitewater Draw Wildlife Preserve near Willcox, AZ. This is an open, but artificial, nesting "shed" that is actually right next to the parking lot. Mamma is on the nest at the other end of the shed.

Rock Wren at Dedication Pt67 viewsThis little bird sang his heart out for quite a while. No answer came though that I could detect.

White Crowned Sparrow67 viewsA nice break from the Bluebirds. This little guy came around while we were tracking the Bluebirds, and he posed perfectly for me.

Osprey on a Stick65 viewsWe spotted this Osprey from the car as we drove along a wetland area in Ellensburg. We found a place to park, and he watched us watch him for a long time before he flew off. At that we were never able to get very close because of intervening brush and water. The 500mm brought me as close as it could.

Yellow Bellied Marmot at Shoshone Falls63 viewsWe thought this guy was so cute, and we tiptoed around and scurried to get photos. Then we figure out he was actually following us. They are so spoiled and tame we could have shouted and screamed, and as long as he continued to believe he might get fed, which he did not, he'd have put up with anything. So sad...

Bald Eagle at Skagit WMA60 viewsThis eagle permitted us to approach his tree, walk directly, well almost directly :), underneath, and camp out for 20+ minutes before he finally took off. He was up 60 feet or so, yielding the bottom-up view. Not the best view, I admint, but beggars can't be choosers.

Great Horned Owl53 viewsHe played "possum" for this. Notice just one eye (Left) actually open, and that one not very much. Not too concerned about me.
